Cassis
Cassis Birgit Staudt is a singer and recording artist who toured the
US, Europe, Mexico and India with her former band “b-blush” and her
DJ project “scratch’Nsniff”. At age 21 she left the Hamburg
University of music to start producing movies in Germany for Matthias
Glasner and later moved to New York. There she produced music videos
(Tom Waits/Neil Young) for Jim Jarmusch and three segments of his
feature film “Coffee and Cigarettes”. One of them starring Iggy Pop
and Tom Waits won the Cannes International Filmfestival. Inspired by
co-directing/producing the documentary on the virtuoso
guitaristMarc Ribot “Descent Into Baldness” Cassis launched her own
music. Because of all her film experiences Cassis naturally
gravitated towards writing music for movies. She wrote the score for
the Oscar nominated “Ferry Tales”, “Vertical Traveler”, the award
winning feature “Die Boxerin/About A Girl” amongst others and
released the CDs "heartcore" and "you are here". Her latest band
boxerin with bassist Herbie Flowers (known for “Walk on the Wild
Side”) is currently working on the album “flypaperthin…”.
